shivasuri4: 25... Bxh3 was an excellent find by Hector. Capturing the bishop would lead to 26... Ng5, leaving the queen short of squares. If white now responds with 27. Bg2(27.Qh2 is an outright blunder due to Nf3+, and 27.Qg3 loses to Rg6), 27...Nf3+ 28. Bxf3(forced, else the queen drops) exf3 29. Kf1 (in an effort to escape to the queenside) Qxh3+ 30. Ke1 Rg6 should win, as the white pieces are disorganised and pressure on the f2 pawn could be mounted by black.

The blunder 27. bxa5 effectively sealed the game. It was perhaps a result of Tikkanen underestimating the speed of black's attack. 27. Kh2 was necessary, though the position would continue to favour black.

  Shams: <shivasuri4> In your line isn't 27.Bg2 Nxh3+ (instead of 27...Nf3+) faster?

shivasuri4: <shams>, it might be; I am not sure though. Is your follow up idea 28. Kh1(or Kh2) Nxf2?

wordfunph: GM Tikkanen chooses to be checkmated than prolong his agony of defeat.
May-10-12  vinidivici: <shivasuri4> according to your line how about after 28...exf3 then white doing
29.Qh2(protecting h3 pawn)
May-10-12  vinidivici: any thought?

shivasuri4: Right, thank you, <LTJ>! So it appears that Nxh3+ is the best 27th move for black, yet it surprisingly doesn't yield a significant advantage.

  Shams: <LTJ> Thanks for that.
May-11-12  LoveThatJoker: <shivasuri4 and Shams> I'm glad Stockfish's analysis was of service here!
