kingscrusher: A sad day for chess indeed. Black's risk taking was simply sidestepped to help guarantee White increasing advantages, which grew to winning proportions.

kingscrusher: With all due respect to Chessgames.com it should be "Anand loses" - not "Gelfand wins".

spinal pat: <Kingscrusher> I understand your a little dissapointed in the chess, but Boris is playing as a pro. Probably if he goes out for some swashbuckling, he is prone to be smashed badly by Anand.

Ulhumbrus: Perhaps there is no need to read too much into Gelfand's win: Anand may simply have overlooked something at the time when he played 23...g5.
May-20-12  anandrulez: The way Anand has been playing last 4 years , it clear he is on decline . He played some very poor moves today , starting with Ne4 . It actually is good if Gelfand becomes WC , we will get a breath of fresh air and finally Anand will get time to rethink if he has to play on ...or should be quite . Anand might be able to play for a few more years as a Top 10 player ...but not anymore the same Anand . I am happy Gelfand can finally be happy for his chess ! It can be very challenging for one's personal growth if you stagnate at some level for years ... now he has got a break from that .

PinnedPiece: Press: "You didn't seem to go for your bottle so much, could you tell us what secret is in your bottle"

Gelfand: "There have been many attempts to discover what is in my secret bottle, but perhaps it should remain secret."

At least someone is cheery today.

May-20-12  reti: I hope Anand will get a good night sleep, and fight tomorrow like a tiger.
