| May-20-12 | | Nf3em: even the patzer in me saw that mate threat ;-)

 | | lost in space: 4:3 and 5 games to go. We'll see if this is better than 1:0 and 7 minutes to go. |

 | | Richard Taylor: This might mean Anand now will come out fighting in the next game |
May-20-12
 | | chessgames.com: Thanks to everybody for coming by today, especially our special guest commentator WGM Pogonina. Most of all, congratulations to Gelfand for breaking the streak of draws and blowing this match wide open. Tomorrow morning is Vishy's serve, stop back at 7:00am USA/Eastern for round #8 of the World Chess Championship. |

 | | Memethecat: what was wrong with Rh1+ 39Kxh1 d1=Q+ 40Kh2 Qxd5 ? |
May-20-12
 | | kingscrusher: A sad day for chess indeed. Black's risk taking was simply sidestepped to help guarantee White increasing advantages, which grew to winning proportions. |
May-20-12
 | | Memethecat: i mean e1 & e5 |
| May-20-12 | | Gordon1306: Congrats to Boris. Now I hope Anand can strike back immmediately. I'm eagerly anticipating the next game!! |
May-20-12
 | | kingscrusher: With all due respect to Chessgames.com it should be "Anand loses" - not "Gelfand wins". |
May-20-12
 | | VargPOD: <Memethecat>, it's not mate but white has an extra rook. |
May-20-12
 | | benveniste: <memethecat>, 41. dxe5 leaves black down a rook with more losses to come. |

 | | Jack Kerouac: So I guess me and Neal will swill a pint in the back of that '49 Mercury..
I still want to see the KIA at some point.AND I still think E-4 is the key............... |
May-20-12
 | | caissafan1963: Well, this will force Anand to play more aggressively in the next game with white. |
May-20-12
 | | spinal pat: <Kingscrusher> I understand your a little dissapointed in the chess, but Boris is playing as a pro. Probably if he goes out for some swashbuckling, he is prone to be smashed badly by Anand. |
May-20-12
 | | Memethecat: yeah just spotted the pawn, shame. |
May-20-12
 | | Ulhumbrus: Perhaps there is no need to read too much into Gelfand's win: Anand may simply have overlooked something at the time when he played 23...g5. |
| May-20-12 | | anandrulez: The way Anand has been playing last 4 years , it clear he is on decline . He played some very poor moves today , starting with Ne4 . It actually is good if Gelfand becomes WC , we will get a breath of fresh air and finally Anand will get time to rethink if he has to play on ...or should be quite . Anand might be able to play for a few more years as a Top 10 player ...but not anymore the same Anand . I am happy Gelfand can finally be happy for his chess ! It can be very challenging for one's personal growth if you stagnate at some level for years ... now he has got a break from that . |

 | | spinal pat: apears like Boris is drinking out of some secret bottles, lol. But he didn't disclose what's in them. |
May-20-12
 | | Memethecat: <Ulhumbrus> I took your suggetioon & got Laskers book. |
May-20-12
 | | PinnedPiece: Press: "You didn't seem to go for your bottle so much, could you tell us what secret is in your bottle" Gelfand: "There have been many attempts to discover what is in my secret bottle, but perhaps it should remain secret." At least someone is cheery today.

| May-20-12 | | reti: I hope Anand will get a good night sleep, and fight tomorrow like a tiger. |
May-20-12
 | | Memethecat: <TD> I already tried that, look at pawd d4 |
May-20-12
 | | Richard Taylor: < Ulhumbrus: Perhaps there is no need to read too much into Gelfand's win: Anand may simply have overlooked something at the time when he played 23...g5. > Anand should have played 21...Rxc2 and the position is nearly = |
