What he needs now is novelties -- good and original ones, if possible. He also needs to increase his energy level, if he can -- his play so far has been oddly listless and bland. Maybe there's something in Natalia's suggestion that he's not feeling well, or maybe the world championship has become a burden that subconsciously he wants to be free of. Then again, maybe he just needed to lose one in order to unleash his superpowers. And maybe, now that he has something to lose, Gelfand will get nervous. It's all to play for. |

Actually, Anand's preparation/novelties turned out so far to be effective mainly in his games with Black, in neutralizing Gelfand's play - as with 14...Nf6 on game 2 and 14...0-0 on game 6. But it didn't work, of course, in game 7. In Anand's games with White, Gelfand seemed so far able to constantly surprise him. Another approach may be to go for something which is decidedly not major and not forcing, like Kasparov did in the final game of the 1987 match -in order to "just play chess", as they say. But you have to be in the right state of mind for this. In the 2000 match against Kramnik, for example, the same(?) Kasparov seemed to become paralyzed every time he didn't manage to get a clear opening advantage with White. |

After wards he/the team is starting to PLAY and not only destroys the play. We have now the 1:1 in the 88. minute and well see the Catanaccio again. And this because the match is limited to 12 games and Anand keeps his title in case the match ends 6:6 |
