Check It Out: Official website says there is a one day break before the tie-breaks. Anand and Gelfand need to rest after that 22-move draw. snark

waustad: I'm glad I looked. I was thinking of setting an alarm for the wrong day.
May-28-12  ajile: OK I got my things packed. Moving to the west coast tomorrow.
May-28-12  abhishikt: who wants live commentator like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwcO... for the tie break games?
May-28-12  AVRO38: Why is Gelfand listed as White? Have they drawn colors already?

You gotta love Maurice Ashley!

waustad: Some of the best broadcasts were from Gibtel. Simon Williams is funny and hyper-tactical and the visitors were usually amusing.

May-29-12  weisyschwarz: This is sort of strange. It is like there was no holder of the title already, and these were two challengers.

Jack d: Hi. Have been following the WCC games here but this is my first post. Can't wait until tomorrow so here I am! Anyway can someone explain to me the logic in giving white an extra minute in the "armageddon" game? It seems crazy. thanks.

spinal pat: I believe white get's a minute, but MUST win the game or else it will be considered a loss. Black gets the win in case of a draw.

Jack d: spinal pat. OK. Now it makes sense. Thanks for that.

I take it you don't like corny-sounding people, right? :)

What I like about him is that he tries hard!

Re, the Woody Allen quote on your profile page: where is that from?

May-29-12  Ragh: Go Anand!
May-29-12  lentil: And take Gelfand with you!
May-29-12  lentil: Here's my idea for how to choose a "World Chess Champion": Every second year (maybe every year?), hold a quadrangular 4-round tournament among the four highest-rated players (previous champion with no benefits). Now that the USSR (draws all around) no longer exists, this format would reveal the best, and allow any 'errors' to be corrected quickly.

Jack d: I finally found some time to look through expert commentary on the games on other sites and it seems like some are not as negative about the quality of the play as say, Ksaparov.....it does seem, however, that many think Vishy has lost his competitive edge and not just in this match but in a lot of matches in the last year.
