Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-13-12  SirRuthless: Just an observation here. The 21.a3!? idea was a long and difficult road which would have resulted in a very sensitive position and with short time it would have been very difficult to defend. 21.gxf4 and later Ne4 and Nxg6 forcing gxf6 helped to simplify the game for white and still maintained solid drawing chances. after a poor opening performance, white was able to consolidate and get a simpler endgame which was good for his clock. Kramnik did well to equalize out of the opening and Nakamura had to play carefully to save the draw. Good game.

Marmot PFL: Unfortunately, another example of superficial opening preparation by Nakamura. Here he was an hour down and fighting for a draw practically from the start. Once in bad positions he usually plays well but it's not a recipe for success in international chess.
Jun-15-12  RookFile: In other words, Nakamura is the modern day Reshevsky.

Marmot PFL: I would say Reshevsky got more out of positions with white, but would take Nakamura with black.
