Jul-06-12  offramp: By move 11 white has given up his queen for three pieces; I wish we had seen this kind of opening variation in the Anand-Gelfand match.

White develops in a classical way:

By move 23 white pieces are swarming around the black king...

Black's queen was ineffectual throughout the game. Black never got going at all. A very annoying game for Li Chao who probably smashed up his hotel room and fired drunken shots at his colleagues in the bar later on.

Jul-06-12  Gogia: was not it lost all the way for the black from like move 21??
Jul-06-12  offramp: <Gogia: was not it lost all the way for the black from like move 21??> Even after move 11!

AgentRgent: After 7...b6 the score is very heavily in White's favor among the databases I've seen. Either Li Chao was unaware of this line, or whatever he had planned failed to materialize.
