HeMateMe: I like this set up for white, in the QGD. White immediately gets two central pawns, rapid development, and black's Queen gets trapped in the center.

kingfu: The Marshall Defense is horrible. The database percentage is 65 to 15. It is kind of funny that the natural move for white after 3...NxP would be 4.e4 but that works out ok for black.

kingfu: After 19. Nd5 does Qe8 hold? Black loses the exchange but the rook on a8 is useless anyway.
Aug-21-12  Fetvadd: Kingfu: exchange for nothing is usually enough to win. And after Qe8 white does not only have the exchange, he also got a big positional advantage (full control of the open files and better placed pieces). There is really nothing that can save black except for a huge blunder or a sudden heart attack on white.

kingfu: I was trying to avoid RxQ. I hate it when that happens! Black , in the long run, was toast.

What could black have done different? Say 2...e6 or 2...pxp or 2...c6.

Going wrong on move 2 against an opponent rated 400 points higher...
