Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-21-12  chextall27: Hi, 1st off, this is my 1st post, so I hope I am doing it right and not saying anything stupid. I was brought here by my newspaper chess quiz which says the solution is from this point:

32. Kb1, Qd1++
which seems to ignore:
33. Qd1

if 33. ..., c2+ then 34. Rd2, Rd2 35. Kd2

which gives white a huge material advantage.

On a more basic level, I do not understand why Nielsen resigns. Probably something obvious, but after Kb1, I see a number of variations that do not lead to an inevitable mate or an overwhelming advantage to black.

Thanks!
Mike

After 31....Rb1+, this is indeed resignable for White as 32.Kxb1 c2+ is crushing.
