Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-24-12  luzhin: The final position sums up Black's whole game problem: a totally impotent LSB, meaning that in effect he was playing a piece down.
Nov-24-12  Gilmoy: Yah, Black deviated from the boring Meran c5-push for <8..b5>, and White beats him to the punch with his own <11.c5>.

Then Black normally gets at least b4 poking the N away, but White outraces him <13.b4> to that, too.

Trading off the rooks looks like two concessions deserves a third, as the only thing weaker than the Bb7 is <19..Bxa8> losing 1 more tempo to get it to c8.

<32..e6> kind of sums up his day. Lungfish.

Beautiful!!

But really, the clinical dismantling of the Black awkward position is hugely impressive; NO counterplay possibilities allowed, nice touch there at the end... One of the best performances to date by Caruana, and quite a positional masterpiece against a great player, Gata possibly suffering from a terrible patch of form.
