  An Englishman: Good Evening: Pretty decent pun, but at any point in the game did there come a position when Black "should've had it?"

The pun is on the same principle as the one for this game.

Alekhine vs J Drewitt, 1923

Black never "almost drew it."

45...Qe3+ looks pretty even.

  Check It Out: Not in the Alekhine game. Shoulda Hadet means to me that he missed a winning chance.

  Breunor: Yes he should have had it. As of move 46 black is up at -2.3; after Rde8? The score is about 5.8!

You really can just take h4. I don't know what the two players were thinking.

  OhioChessFan: The floor is always open for pun submissions. Make sure they are not only plays on the player's names, that the pronunciation in the player's native tongue applies, that it's a high quality game, that the pun actually fits what happens in the game, that it's not "too obvious", and it hasn't been done before in a close manner. We can use 365 by this time next year. Get going.

  saffuna: I tried a couple of youtubes as puns for other Song games:

M Cornette vs J Song, 2012

J N Riff vs M Cornette, 2009

OK, Song doesn't play in the second one. But he led me there.

  NM JRousselle: Black had the better game before the 46 Rde8 blunder. The obvious Re2 looks a lot better.

Also, be sure to dot your eyes, cross your tease, and mind you're peas and queues...

<MelvinDoucet>

I don’t know what Black was thinking, but 65.g4+ is every bit as winning as taking the pawn. So what’s the problem?
