Mar-20-13 | | Ulhumbrus: Black seems to have a pawn roller and good winning prospects unless White can find a way to make his knight count |
Mar-20-13 | | watwinc: 45 f6ch looks thoroughly unpleasant - 45 ... Kf8 46 Ra1! |

Mar-20-13 | | whiteshark: This is really complex. And with 14 resp. 28 minutes for the next 16 moves every outcome seems possible. |

 | | FSR: Can White play for a draw with 45.f6+ Kh7 46.Qxc2 Rxc2 47.Kf3 d4 48.Nxd4 cxd4 49.Rxb4? |
Mar-20-13 | | DcGentle: Black's pawn formation from d5 to h5 has the Λ (=lambda) shape. I met this shape in other games as well, and the recent WT game had it as V shape. Rather strong. ;-) |
Mar-20-13 | | Ulhumbrus: I am off for now. My present forecast is a win for Radjabov. |
Mar-20-13 | | watwinc: Yeah, White has to protect the knight and the Black rook gets the a file |

 | | FSR: Apparently if you're Houdini everything is a draw, including the line I previously suggested (without Houdini's help) and the game continuation. |

Mar-20-13 | | RayFchess: 48...Rc3 |
Mar-20-13 | | DcGentle: <FSR>: I am using Sting (= stockfish derivate) for a change just now, but also here I see 0.00. Well, but the game is not so simple, I guess. |
Mar-20-13 | | DcGentle: This position:
click for larger viewis a possible outcome (Black to move) and is a theoretical draw according to the endgame tables. |
Mar-20-13 | | nowo: 50. Nxc5 leads to draw? |
Mar-20-13 | | nowo: as i posted... |
Mar-20-13 | | DcGentle: White just gave his knight for 2 pawns and they can shake hands. Material is even now. |

Mar-20-13 | | lost in space: I though Black could have won this. |
Mar-21-13 | | extremepleasure2: Here's what is said in the official site regarding the game. <<Grischuk got close to a win, but failed to convert the full point. In the 5.Bf4 variation of the Queen’s Gambit Declined, the Muscovite was very much in control: “I think I got a completely winning position but I should not have let Black sacrifice on c5. I underestimated that." >> This is such a ridiculous comment. After 7.c5 white has lost much of its first move advantage. From then on the game was always equal and it's Radjabov who was fighting to get a win out of nothing never Grischuk. |
Mar-21-13 | | Calar: <extremepleasure2> Strange how "inferior" move 7.c5 is most commonly played in this line and has highest winning percentage for White (Opening Explorer). Even patzers such as Nakamura, Aronian, Ivanchuk etc. use it: Nakamura vs L Bruzon, 2004
Ivanchuk vs L Bruzon, 2010
Aronian vs A Giri, 2011
Ponomariov vs Vallejo-Pons, 2003
Gelfand vs Carlsen, 2010
Topalov vs A Giri, 2012
Really, top 10 players should know better than to play such a move. |

Apr-20-13 | | Everett: A promising game from Radjabov. I look forward to some more enterprising chess from him, despite this tournament result. |
