Phony Benoni: Sort of an odd pun for a game that is neither quick nor blitz.
Apr-29-13  lajube: White resigned, but how does black refute this line? 46. e6 fxe6 47.Bxd2 Nxd2+ 48. Kf4 Nxb3 49. e7
Apr-29-13  cjrubiks: He probably calls the tournament referee over, and asks "How the heck can white advance the pawn to e7 when he doesn't have it already on e6?"

  Phony Benoni: <lajube> I think you have the wrong position in mind. After <46.e6 fxe6 47.Bxd2 Nxd2+ 48.Kf4 Nxb3>

49.e7 is not possible, and Black has time to get his king back after 49.fxe6.

Apr-29-13  morfishine: White must've been blitzed or he would have at least tried: <46.e6 fxe6 47.fxe6 Kg8 48.e7 Kf7 49.Re3 Nxe3
50.Bxd2 Nf5 51.Be3 Kxe7>

  Phony Benoni: <morfishine> After <46.e6 fxe6 47.fxe6:

Black has 47...Rxd4, and White cannot stop the saving move 48...Re4.

Apr-29-13  morfishine: Hi <Phony Benoni> True, best is <47....Rxd4> and Black is up 2-pawns after <48.Kg2 Re4 49.Bc3 Rxe6 50.Bd4>

The operative word is "tried", for in many cases a swindler needs help from the swindlee :)

Apr-29-13  watwinc: 46 Rxb5 seemed worth a shot
Apr-29-13  Abdel Irada: <The operative word is "tried", for in many cases a swindler needs help from the swindlee :)>

In all cases. Otherwise, it isn't a swindle.

HeMateMe: the puns are getting droller.
Apr-29-13  engmaged: <watwinc: 46 Rxb5 seemed worth a shot> 46.Rxb5 Rxd4 47.Rb7 Nxe5 and black holds everything together
Apr-29-13  jrpg: I'm no expert on openings but can anyone see any benefit in white's 15. b4?
Apr-29-13  shivasuri4: <jrpg>, this website has one previous game with 14...Nb6, the very recently played A Giri vs Radjabov, 2013, where White went on to play 15.Nb3.

So 15.b4 appears to be a novelty, at least at a reasonable level. One point of the move might be to prevent a future freeing ...c5, but you can't help but wonder if it locks out the a5 bishop for too long.

Apr-29-13  Tigranny: Great game, but I don't like the pun if it's not blitz.
Apr-29-13  kevin86: heinsohn? I was expecting a Celtic joke.

It is neither quick, nor blitz, nor even much of a game.

Apr-29-13  goodevans: At move 44 white is in quite some bind. I don't believe he has any positive moves available to him. <44.Bf1> is an attempt to free the K from guard duty on the f-pawn but the game line wins the d-pawn and white's position crumbles.

With the benefit of hindsight maybe <44.Bb4> would have been better. The d-pawn still goes but white seems to have chances, e.g. 44.Bb4 Qxf5+ 45.gxf5 Rd2 46.Bc3 Rxd4 47.Bxd4 Nd2+ 48.Kf4 Nxb3 49.e6 and I'm not sure who's winning.

Apr-29-13  Abdel Irada: <HeMateMe: the puns are getting droller.>

By "droller," do you mean "worse"?
