An Englishman: Good Evening: White might as well try 17.Bxg6,hxg6; 18.Qxg6+,Bxg7(...Kh8 if Black feels happy with a draw); 19.Qxe6+ and see if the three pawns can do anything. Not likely, but the game continuation looked much too passive.
Sep-29-19  morfishine: Another farcical GOTD
Sep-29-19  faulty: morfishine> sadly, "suggested by sargon" equals "hopeless quality" as they are only based on poor level puns rather than a combination of a pun and a game
Sep-29-19  morfishine: I'm not concerned about the play on word

I'm just disappointed in the game quality. After all, this is a player rated 1645 with one game in the database, playing a player rated 2432

What do you expect the outcome to be?

Sorry, I was pressed for time in this instance. I thought White’s play was decent initially, but then faltered, and to my mind once the Black Knight moved to e5, White was in significant trouble.

The vast majority of chess players don’t function at the Grandmaster level, and thus games of this ilk can still be instructive by attempting to determine where someone first “went wrong”.

Some Games of the Day—including those submitted by respected and experienced members—feature scores with less than 20 moves! While game quality isn’t automatically the top priority, I generally try to make my selections based on criteria which include it, and asserting that I only care about wordplay is an exaggeration, to put it mildly.

Regardless, your point is well taken, and moving forward I’ll try to <up my game> with respect to game quality...

OhioChessFan: Don't worry about game quality. Don't worry about the persistent Site Whiner, who's enlightened us with thousands of complaints about the puns. Please, don't let him think his waste of bandwidth is anything that might effect change.
Sep-29-19  morfishine: <OhioChessFan: Don't worry about game quality> This comment pretty much defines <OCF>'s opinion of the GOTD on <CG>

'Don't worry about quality'

Spoken quickly, but speaks volumes
