FSR: 93.g4? is terrible, according to Houdini (+.31)!

keypusher: Sorry, I had queen on wrong square in one of those lines.
Jan-17-15  Marmot PFL: <Oh, yes, I am missing Kg8 instead of Qa8...>

Kg8 looks awful though. Maybe just Qf4 threatening Qg5+

FSR: As Adorjan would say, Black is OK!

keypusher: Anyway, I think Ivanchuk has it figured out now.
Jan-17-15  coolconundrum: The engine at the live stream page has it at equal now. This engine has shown itself to be a bit near sighted in endgames before however.

FSR: Now Houdini's showing 0.00 against any king move by White.

Fusilli: <MarmotPFL> Yes, but we were trying to figure out why Houdini was saying that Qh1+ loses where Qh5+ (what Chucky played) was equal (response to keypusher's earlier post).

The position I predicted a few posts ago might happen in a couple of moves, in which case I don't see how white can make progress...

Jan-17-15  Marmot PFL: <Fusilli:> answered that already (back a few posts)
Jan-17-15  Marmot PFL: Does they have 7-piece table bases yet for this type position?

FSR: <Marmot> Yes. I think only 6-piece tablebases are online for free, though.
Jan-17-15  kellmano: <marmot> I think limited 7 piece tablbases exist, and if they do, I'd guess this would be one of the materials someone had bothered to solve.

FSR: From my award-winning Wikipedia article <First-move advantage in chess>:

<Endgame tablebases have solved a very limited area of chess, determining perfect play in a number of endgames, including all non-trivial endgames with no more than six pieces or pawns (including the two kings).[172] Seven-piece endgames were solved in 2012 and released as "Lomonosov tablebases".[173]> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First...

FSR: <kellmano> The Lomonosov tablebases cover all positions except where one side has just a lone king against king and five pieces.
Jan-17-15  Tomlinsky: Lomonosov tablebases can be queried online, after registering, here... http://tb7.chessok.com/

Penguincw: What the? I leave for 3 hours, and this game is still going on? Obviously I'm happy these players are fighting on, but I'm surprised, in a good way. :)

Fusilli: <Penguin...> Yup, and at some point Giri had winning chances... it was always hard though.
Jan-17-15  Marmot PFL: Ha, for the 7-piece VIP membership required.

Sokrates: It's about time for Giri to stop pestering the Ukrainian ikon. Give him this draw!

This isn't quite the last game remaining today. Let's have a look at the Challenger's Group:

Fusilli: <Penguincw> Ha! You propose that because you took a three-hour break! ;)

As far as I am concerned, I got my chess fix for the day. This game was strategically rich in the opening and middle game, and the endgame had its fine moments.

Jan-18-15  MindCtrol9: In a quick glance, I like 13.dxc6 and after that, .Ng5.
