Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-19-15  whiteshark: Fine pawn sac by Liren with <20.Ne5> Thereafter his ♗♗ became a force.
Jul-19-15  Whitemouse: black N is trapped.
Jul-19-15  latvalatvian: I am hoping to be the "wild card" player in the candidates tournament coming up next year. I'm only around 1500 rated but I think they might over look this minor detail (they are looking for someone over 2700). If I lose every game, how much will they pay me. Is it minimum wage? I need enough to cover travel expenses.
Jul-19-15  Whitemouse: <latvalatvian> where are you from?

(just going along)

Well, even though ratings can be "overrated", you unfortunately have to be rated at least 2725 to qualify for the wild card. However, you still have one hope: the World Cup. The top 5 from the Asian Contential Championship will qualify, and there's still one presidential nominee to go. You should try that!

In the 2014 Candidates tournament, 8th place got €17,000 (about 24000 CAD).

Jul-19-15  fisayo123: In my opinion, one of the best games of 2015 so far. Just tremendously incandescent play from start to finish by Ding.
Jul-19-15  Marmot PFL: Not a good pawn grab by Gelfand. The white QB was dead until then. Guess he needed to win to even the score.
Jul-19-15  ChessValley: Not only is black's night trapped. If the black king tries to go after the g-pawn, white will break through with f6 or h6.
Jul-20-15  parisattack: <fisayo123: In my opinion, one of the best games of 2015 so far. Just tremendously incandescent play from start to finish by Ding.>

I fully agree. I've been watching Ding for several years and this game is a beauty.

Jul-21-15  latvalatvian: I looked over the participants to see if coming in first at the chess world cup was remotely possible as a 1500 level player. I am guessing that since the first 30-some players are over 2700, I am going to have just a tad bit of difficulty. These guys know chess. Chances are, by the time I pay my hotel bills, I'm going to dead broke. And trying to figure these guys out will give me minor headaches. Oh well, that's life.
Jul-23-15  patzer2: Fritz indicates 29...Qg4? is where Black went astray. Instead, 29...Nd6 = seems to hold.
Jul-29-15  rudranshumeher: Ne7 free the knight after 44. f5 and draw
