One interesting aspect of the combination is that after 35...Rxd5! 36. cxd5 e3! (not 36...Bxd5? 37. Qxb6 +-,) if White plays 37. Rf1 (diagram below)

 | | Check It Out: I saw 35...Rxd5 36.cxd5 36...e3 37.Kh1 but then I started dreaming that 37...e2 would be the move to play and lost the thread. <patzer2> Fun story: A good friend of mine annually requests that I provide guitar and voice for her birthday party. This year, two weeks back, it was in conjunction with celebrating her newly built deck. the weather in Seattle has been beautiful for months but wouldn't you know it, a gray and rainy day besets her party and crashes the deck celebration. I had prepared "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" just in case, and, not to be outdone by Seattle weather, led a rousing 30 person sing through of it under pop-up cover. Afterwards, someone asked who wrote that song, and I told them it was sung famously by BJ Thomas but written by Hal David and Burt Bacharat, which I had learned while charting it. So, your mention of it rung a bell! |
