Jan-28-17  me to play: Very interesting endgame.
Jan-28-17  JimNorCal: Yes! Instructive.
Jan-28-17  SimonWebbsTiger: a very nice touch is Michael and Hou ate dinner and chatted together after the game at the annual "Battle of the Sexes" event.
Jan-28-17  Tiggler: 50. ..Kf6 might have saved the game, but nobody can tell you why.
Jan-28-17  lunchwithgina: It took me 10 minutes to see that White cannot take the Knight at move 28: 28. bc Qc5 29. Kh1 Rf2 30. Rg1 Rg2 31. Rg2 Rf2 winning the house; did anyone see this game live and remember how long Adams took to make his 28th move?
Jan-29-17  luzhin: In fact 28.bxc5 was the best move: at the end of your line White wins with 32.Nd5! But this was an epic game played by humans, not computers. For the same reason I won't criticise Yifan for missing the probable ending save with 50...Kf6.The problem with 50...a4 is that after 51.Nd4 e5 is refuted by 52.Nb5.After 50...Kf6 Yifan would have been able to keep her passed e-pawn, which gives her good drawing chances. All praise for Adams for spurning the draw and playing the ingenious 46.g3!
Jan-29-17  SimonWebbsTiger: @<lunchwithgina>

they joined the game with 27...Nc5 28.Qe3 Rf2. Adams had 9 minutes on his clock.

When he played 26. Rd1, he had 20 minutes on his clock. (Of course, one has to factor in the 30s increment.)

We see Hou play 26...g6, Mickey sit down (with 21 min on the clock?) and start thinking. Then they cut away to Topalov's game and a break.

Sorry I can't help more.

Jan-29-17  7he5haman: Fantastic game!
Jan-31-17  SirRuthless: Really fun game to play through. This is 19th century chess meets 22nd century chess.
Jan-31-17  Vollet: Why not 32 ... e5?
Apr-21-17  Everett: <an-28-17 SimonWebbsTiger: a very nice touch is Michael and Hou ate dinner and chatted together after the game at the annual "Battle of the Sexes" event.>

Well, what's a woman to do? She was about to get mated whether she wanted to or not...

Mar-24-19  Messiah: Someone submitted the pun "Madam, I'm Adam." Laughed a little bit too much, I admit.

Also, a very interesting game!

Jun-07-19  areknames: Highly enjoyable game and a nifty palindrome as a pun, not bad!

  FSR: I know <Madam, I'm Adam> is a palindrome. But shouldn't it be <Madam, I'm Adams> in this instance?
Jun-07-19  sfm: <FSR ...shouldn't it be Adams> Certainly! So:

Ms Madam, I'm Adams, M.

Jun-07-19  OldGeez76: So how exactly does White go about winning? It looks tricky to me.
Jun-07-19  Swedish Logician: <OldGeez76>
The Black King is stalemated;
Black's only move is 70. - h3
whereupon Whites mates with 71. Qc1.
Jun-07-19  Pyrandus: There are how much "Spielmann Defense"?
Jun-07-19  Ironmanth: Superb game! Thanks, all!
