  Marmot PFL: 44 Rxa4 Rxa4 45 Rxa4 Re2 threatens Rxf2 and Nc3+
Apr-19-17  blunderclap: I would just like to point out that juventus and barcelona are playing pretty shortly, in case anyone gets too wrapped up in this.

Marmot PFL: Now the B can get to d4 and help a possible passed h-pawn.

Sokrates: Clearly, MVL has the easier play and some advantage. This is a test of endurance, concentration and stamina for Yifan Hou. I hope she makes it.

  technical draw: Hou's in trouble.

Marmot PFL: maybe Hou thought Ke6 would take the king too far from white's passed pawn but losing a pawn can't be good.

benveniste: Looks like she missed the check after ♘e4.
Apr-19-17  varishnakov: Probably on move 49 she missed 51.Ra5
Apr-19-17  ByrneBabyByrne: Can we please stick to chess commentary and stop with racial/ethnic/sexist taunting of players? Where are the moderators here?
Apr-19-17  BOSTER: To hold two paws "a" and " h" is not easy.

Marmot PFL: White wants the two most outside passed pawns figuring the knight can't stop both.

Marmot PFL: Endings are tough to play well as by then the players are worn out from the middle game.

Marmot PFL: The knight makes it on time but the king needed to be there sooner.

HeMateMe: Max's little trick at move 50 did the job. good game. Instructive, put your passed pawn on the h file, more difficult for the opposing Knight to defend it.

An Englishman: Good Evening: Another pawn sacrifice (this time, two) that didn't quite pan out for the gambiteer. MVL simply gives back the pawns and simplifies to an endgame where he has more active Rooks, better pawns, and most importantly the superior minor piece. Even if Black could have held, the odds against finding the best move at every move were too great.
Apr-20-17  blackdranzer: MVL dint have a better minor piece in my opinion..after the blunder, yes, but that is not because hou's knight was bad.
