|Jun-01-17|| ||Iwer Sonsch: Well, that foresight after 31...Nf6 is pretty impressive.|
|Jun-01-17|| ||kevdubs: Found c6 but totally missed white's queen fork.|
|Jun-01-17|| ||Carlos0012358: Passed pawn. Therefore, 31.c6 for sure. Thereafter, many options.|
|Jun-01-17|| ||Pasker: c6 was an easy move to find but I like the final swindle by black includes a clever piece sac to get the pawn forking queen check. But he was little late. That was quite impressive. Even a check on b2 wasn't possible in the final position hard to believe that one too calculated in advance by white.|

|Jun-01-17|| ||kevin86: White will replace a queen with another queen...and win!|
|Jun-01-17|| ||patzer2: For today's Thursday puzzle, I couldn't resist blitzing off 31. c6! with the threat of 31...Rxc6 32. bxc6 to be followed by 33. Rc8 and 34. b8(Q) .|
Black, being a non-patzer, sees the threat and responds to 31. c6! with 31...Nf6 (diagram below)

Here the strongest move is the game reply 32. Nf3 (+7.88 @ 32 depth, Stockfish 8.)
However, for a simple winning alternative I like 32. Qxa3 Rxb7 33. c7 Qxe5 34. c8(Q)+ (+6.20 @ 29 depth, Stockfish 8.)
P.S.: Black's decisive mistake appears to be 29...Rd8? allowing 30. Qxb7 (+3.39 @ 27 depth, Stockfish 8.)
Instead, 29...Rc7 30. Nxf7 Rxf7 31. Qxg5 (+0.82 @ 32 depth, Stockfish 8) gives Black survival chances.
Earlier, instead of 26...Be4? allowing 27. Nxe5 (+0.83 @ 29 depth, Stockfish 8), Black could have kept it near level with 26...Qb5 27. Qc2 Rxc5 = to (+0.22 @ 30 depth, Stockfish 8).
|Jun-01-17|| ||Iwer Sonsch: <Patzer2> What was your simple winning line?|
|Jun-01-17|| ||patzer2: <Iwer Sonsch> Fairly simple IMO is 31. c6! Nf6 32. Qxa6 Rxb7 33. c7 Qxe5 34. c8(Q)+ (+6.20 @ 29 depth, Stockfish 8.)|
|Jun-01-17|| ||Iwer Sonsch: <patzer2> Rxb7? What does the rook take?|
|Jun-01-17|| ||Iwer Sonsch: Ah, 32...Rxb2. Given Black even accepts that sacrifice.|
|Jun-01-17|| ||patzer2: <Iwere Sonsch> Thanks for correcting my typo on 32...Rxb2 in the 31. c6! Nf6 32. Qxa6 Rxb2 33. c7 Qxe5 34. c8(Q)+ (+6.20 @ 29 depth, Stockfish 8) winning line. |
P.S.: <Devere>'s post shows the same winning idea also works after 31. c6! Bf6 32.Qxa6 Rxb2 33.c7 Qxe5 34.c8=Q+ Kg7 35.Qaa8! .

I used to have Meghan Trainor as a neighbour.
She used to take my rubbish to the recycling centre, which was useful because she was great at putting all the right junk in all the right places.
|Sep-24-17|| ||morfishine: Another imbecilic play-on-word that fails completely: Basso is pronounced like gas, lass or crass; not like ace, pace or mace|
Incredible how some moron would submit this, then a whole pile of gullible like morons would follow suit and vote for it
|Sep-24-17|| ||areknames: <morfishine>
You are indeed correct sir, but why the acrimony? Great game by Basso, and let us leave it at that.
|Sep-24-17|| ||Ironmanth: Love this execution by White! Bravo.|
|Sep-24-17|| ||watwinc: <morfishine> Why so bitter? “Basso” is the Italian for “bass", and anyone with any exposure to classical or choral music is quite happy with this.|

Actually, you're wrong as well. Since this fellow is Italian, the correct pronounciation of his surname in Italian is to pronounce the 'a' as in 'bar', 'car', 'far', etc.
