Jun-29-17  tonsillolith: Kramnik, keeping with his reputation for guiding pawns home.

HeMateMe: After 39...K-f8 40.Q-a3 QxQ 41.(d8)=Q+ Q-f8 42.Qxb6 white has regained the pawn and has connected passers. I guess Anand thought he had no chance to block the passers, maybe find a perpetual check. Maybe he was short on time? There's always the chance to trade the knight for the two passed pawns and get a draw with queens still on the board.
Jul-13-17  tonsillolith: Qf8 is not possible to block check since king is there, so must block with knight, at which point Nd7 hurts.
