al wazir: White won an exchange, giving up essentially nothing in compensation. But what was wrong with 29. Bxc8, winning it four moves sooner?

ChessHigherCat: Maybe Short wanted to win the exchange without giving up his LSB and leaving black with his own LSB, since white's castle looks like Swiss chess on the long diagonal. Also, with 9. Nc5, white is threatening to win a whole piece instead of just the exchange and brings the N into play at the same time.
Jul-07-17  abstract: Ugly 24th move by black
Jul-08-17  Everett: <Short>? Adams

ChessHigherCat: <Everett: <Short>? Adams> I always have mixed them up, although they don't look anything alike.
Aug-03-17  Everett: I try to stick with colors now, as I'm often getting the names wrong as well <chesshighercat>

ChessHigherCat: It's just that Short, Miles and Adams are all tossed together in my "strong UK players" drawer.

perfidious: They all can, or could, play a little.
