Nov-30-18
 | | al wazir: The first move, 27...Bc3, is easy to see. If white plays 28. Kd1, he's in for a world of hurt: 28...Rad8+ 29. Bd3 Qxe4 30. Qb3+ Kh7 31. Rxc3, and now there's no way to defend after 31...Rxf2. But after 28. Ke2 Qxf2+ 29. Kd3, I don't see how black continues. And even 28. Rxc3 Qxe4+ 29. Qe3 leaves black with an exchange for a ♙, which isn't an easy win. |

In your first line, after 28...Rad8+ 29. Bd3 Qxe4 30. Qb3+ Kh7 31. Rxc3 Rxd3 32. Rxd3, the move 32...Rxf2?? is a blunder because of 33. Rd7+, and Black is soon mated. |

 | | al wazir: <newzild>: Sorry, I mistyped the first time. See amended post above. |
|
Nov-30-18 | | agb2002: Black is one pawn down.
White threatens Rxf4.
The white queen is overburdened with the defense of both rooks and f2. Therefore, 27... Bc3+: A) 28.Qxc3 Qxe4+ looks very good for Black (29.Qe3 Qxh4 or 29.Be2 Qxg2 + - [r vs B]). B) 28.Kd1 Rad8+ 29.Bd3 (29.Ke2 Qxf2#) 29... Qxe4 wins (30.Qxc3 Rxd3+). C) 28.Ke2 Rae8
C.1) 29.f3 Rxe4+ 30.fxe4 (30.Qxe4 Qd2#) 30... Qf2+ 31.Kd3 (31.Kd1 Qe1#) 31... Qd4+ 32.Re2 Rf2#. C.2) 29.Bd3 Rxe4+ 30.Bxe4 Qxf2+ as above.
C.3) 29.Rxe8 Rxe8+ and mate soon.
C.4) 29.Re3 Qxf2+ 30.Kd3 (30.Kd1 Qxf1+ 31.Re1 Q(R)xe1#) 30... Qxe3+ wins. |

Nov-30-18 | | stacase: I went move for move on a not so difficult Friday. Overall I'd say this was maybe a Wednesday puzzle. |
|
Nov-30-18 | | newzild: <al wazir> No need to be sorry bro - it's a collaborative effort to figure out these lines. |
|
Nov-30-18 | | Walter Glattke: Had a wrong rook position above, 31.-Qxg2 or 31.-Rxf2 wins. |
|

But after 28. Ke2 Qxf2+ 29. Kd3, I don't see how black continues. And even 28. Rxc3 Qxe4+ 29. Qe3 leaves black with an exchange for a ♙, which isn't an easy win.> 27...Bc3+ 28. Ke2 Rae8 29. f3 Rxe4+ 30. fxe4 Qf2+ 31. Kd3 Qd4+ 32. Ke2 Rf2# 27...Bc3+ 28. Qxc3 Qxf2+ 29. Kd1 Rad8+ |
|
Nov-30-18 | | 5hrsolver: Oh in my second line didn't see 30.Bd3. My bad. |
|
Nov-30-18 | | Mayankk: The overloaded theme works again. White Queen defends both Rooks against the menacing Black Queen, which couldn’t be better placed. So we want to divert the White Queen and Be3+ seems the right way for it. And since its a puzzle, it just so happens that the only alternative to Qxe3 is a rather helpless looking Kd1, walking straight into the fire!
Rest are just the details :) |
|
Nov-30-18 | | saturn2: I saw 27..Bc3+
From a practical point of view I would stopp calculating after 29.Qxc3 Qxe4 or
29 Ke2 Qxf2
because black seems better and I dont see a real alternative at move 27 for black. |
|
Nov-30-18 | | saturn2: ah. black has to cut off the d file first by 28..Rd8 |
|
Nov-30-18 | | SpamIAm: <saturn2>, after 28.Ke2 Qxf2+?!, black actually drives the white king to where he wants to go after 30.Kd3 Qg3+ 31.Kc4. And he has no time for 28...R(a8)d8 because his queen is under attack. Better is 28...R(a8)e8! This eliminates the e4 rook's defense of the fourth rank. |
|
Nov-30-18 | | Christoforus Polacco: It's possible : 27.... Bc3+ 28.Ke2 Q:f2+ 29.Kd3 Qg3+ 30.Re3 Rad8+ 31.K:c3 Q:e3+ and black is better |
|
Nov-30-18 | | SpamIAm: <Christoforus Polacco>, after 29...Qg3+ I would prefer 30.Kc4. |
|
Nov-30-18 | | mel gibson: I wasn't sure.
Stockfish 9 agrees with only the first move.
Advantage to Black is + 3.5 depth 36.
So White played a lot harder with Stockfish.
