And Black is lost.

Perhaps it's hard to find because White's attack builds so slowly - White's Queen moves to h5, then takes the pawn on f7 and the advance of White's pawn is irresistable - but Black has no defense but to sacrifice a lot of material to prevent the f-pawn from queening. One possible variation leads to:

Samuel Sevian - Awonder Liang

Where Black has a bishop for 3 pawns, but White's pawn on f7 is in the very near future going to require black sacrificing his queen to prevent its promotion.

Could have been a very pretty knock-out.

Nice post - thanks for contributing it.

Apr-25-19  Saniyat24: 66.c6 f3...I was thinking Karpov(Samuel) vs Kasparov(A.Liang)...is it too soon?! maybe but who cares...definitely a matchup to wait for in the very near future...I liked how Awonder Liang counterattacked...maybe he had no other options...but wow they handled the middle game with such 'coolness'...and both knew when the right moment was there to increase the tempo(...press the TURBO switch!)...Go Sam Go A.Liang...4 pawns...3 pawns...okay but it was a turbulent sea before that...I enjoyed the match...ehm the ride in the choppy sea...!
