Born in Tabriz, Iran. FM (2009); IM (2010) and GM (2011).

Golizadeh became Iranian U16 champion in 2006, came 3rd in the Iranian Championship in 2006, 4th in the Iranian Championship in March 2009 for his first IM norm, and 4th in the Iranian Championship in 2010. He won the 2012/2013 Iranian Championship. His 5.5/9 at the 9th Asian Continental Men's Chess Championship in the Philippines provided him with his 3rd IM norm (see below for his 2nd IM norm).

He acquired his three GM norms by scoring 6.5/9 (coming 4th) at the 8th International Caspian Cup (A Class) in Rasht in February 2010 (also his 2nd IM norm), 6.5/10 (coming 6th) at the Khashayar Mostafavi Kashani Cup in Mashhad in June 2010 and by scoring 7/9 at the Baku Open in August 2010, placing =2nd (4th on count back) a half point behind Gata Kamsky and alongside Emil Sutovsky, Aleksej Aleksandrov and Nijat Abasov. In January 2012, he scored 8/11 in the 20th Fajr International Chess Open Tournament held in Tabriz, in Iran, placing 3rd. In June 2012 he easily won the Azerbaijan Open Chess Championship 2012 with 8/9. In July he won the Saadi Open held in Shiraz, Iran.

He has represented Iran at the 2010, 2012 Olympiads on reserve board, on the latter occasion scoring 6.5/11 for a TPR of 2514 placing 12th for the board. He also represented Iran at the 2014 Olympiad, again as a reserve.
