Mr. Francis (Frank) Fielder Simpson entered into rest Saturday, April 19, 2003, at University Hospital. A graveside service will be held Tuesday (today), April 22, 2003, at 3 p.m. at Westover Memorial Park. Mr. Simpson was brought up in a musical family, later to become a professional musician. Mr. Simpson was a jazz pianist with the Dorsey Bands and lived in New York during some of his adult life. He played string bass with the Augusta Civic Orchestra and was a member of the Augusta Concert Band, Augusta Radio Club, Augusta Chess Club and St. Mary On The Hill Catholic Church. Two cousins, Susan Daniels of Columbia, S.C. and James Petit or Roswell, Ga. survive him. Platts Funeral Home, 721 Crawford Ave., Augusta, 733-3636. Sign the guestbook at AugustaChronicle.com.
