cro777: Minh Huy qualifies for Grandmaster title
Minh Huy is the winner of the 5th Borloy-Androvitzky Karoly Memorial First Saturday GM tournament in Budapest (July 2014). The victory earned Huy an additional 17 ELO-rating points, raising his ELO rating to 2,507 and qualifying him for the FIDE GM title, which requires three GM norms and a minimum ELO rating of 2,500. The first norm was won at the 2003 Asian championship in Brunei 11 years ago as Huy took the U16 crown, while the second was snatched at the First Saturday arena in February 2013.
Huy will have to draw up a profile of his results and submit it to the FIDE for its official recognition as <Vietnamís eighth Grandmaster>, after Dao Thien Hai (1996), Tu Hoang Thong (1999), Nguyen Anh Dung (2000), Pham Cao Sang (2003), Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son (2004), Le Quang Liem (2006) and Bui Vinh (2008).
Following the First Saturday tournament, Huy will join teammates, Quang Liem, Truong Son and Nguyen Duc Hoa in the national team to compete in the 2014 Chess Olympiad in Tromso.
