Konstantin Zaivelyevich Lerner was born in Odessa, USSR. He was awarded the IM title in 1978 and the GM title in 1986. He finished 2nd in the 1984 USSR Championship and 2nd= in the 1986 event. He also won 1st or 1st= placings in Polanica Zdroj 1985 and 1986, Tallinn 1986 and Moscow 1986. He died in Hertzlia, Israel on September 24, 2011.
