Dec-14-13  Karpova: On page 1 of the January-February 1915 'Wiener Schachzeitung', Georg Marco reports that <Oberstabsarzt> Dr. Eduard Mazel, who has been taking care of the <Problemfreunde> (he probably means those who appreciate chess problems) like a father for 12 years now, <seit acht Monaten im Feld steht> (has been standing in the field since eight months - <Feld> means the area of military action, like battlefield, e. g. <Feld der Ehre> = Field of Honour).
Dec-29-13  Karpova: <K. u. k. Oberstabsarzt> Dr. Mazel has been the commander of the mobile reserve spital 1/1 for 11 months now. He sent a postcard from the front (<Feldpostkarte>) on June 19 and his new address was <Mobiles Reservespital 1/1, Etappenpostamt 150>.

Dr. Eduard Mazel das Offizierskreuz des Franz-Joseph-Ordens mit dem Bande des Militärverdienstkreuzes zu verleihen.">
