GrahamClayton: In 1996 the Southern Counties Chess Union acquired a silver-plated cup, partly with funds from Essex CA, for the (nearly) new U100 team championship. Its name commemorates Woolverton, who was a regular player for Essex in county matches, and who had recently died. This trophy set what must have been a new record by going astray even before it was engraved. Kent, its first recipients at the 1996 AGM, sheepishly admitted a year later that they couldn't find it. They bought a new one like it, and the (engraved) replacement was in service in the following season.
