crawfb5: In the photo I am holding my darling girl Lyta. At the tender age of 4-1/2, suddenly and unexpectedly she became sick over Thanksgiving weekend 2011. We lost her a few days later. She was such a happy and energetic girl who often went at things full speed. We named her Lyta and her sister (my avatar) Talia, but at heart they were Lucy and Ethel, up to one misadventure or another and playing games of sister wrestle and chase. Lyta would wake me early most mornings, doing a belly crawl across my chest or standing on my back, trying to lick my face, or barring that, the top of my head, usually wagging her bushy little tail furiously in her mom's face. When I dressed for work she would hop on the bed and bark at me, then bound around and nose her head under the covers and flip them. When I came home, she had trouble staying still long enough for me to pet her. Her sister learned to run on three legs because Lyta would often have the fourth in her mouth. She knew better than to do some of the things she did, but didn't care. A lick or two of dad's face and I'd forgive her almost anything. Goodbye, sweetie. You left much too soon. We miss you.

“The dog is the god of frolic.” – Henry Ward Beecher

Ok, enough of that.

Now the rest of you can tell me I play like a fish.

Or my mother dresses me funny.

Or not.

crawfb5: <jackpawn> Thanks. She was a character. The more we love them, the more we miss them.

<WannaBe> I think we found him down by the freeway exit, holding a sign saying "Will PlaY CheSs for FooD."

Years ago, we adopted two sisters that were terrier/sheltie mixes; one is my avatar and the other is the one I am holding in the photo.

dakgootje: You know - you have a really magnificent beard! Especially useful to personify a gnome; either David the Gnome, or Paulus the woodgnome.

For either you'd need a red hat though.

OhioChessFan: It's a shame that guy in the blue shirt had to photobomb the beautiful picture of the dog.

jessicafischerqueen: Here is a video telling the story of one of <Larry Crawford's> important contributions to Sicilian theory.

It has plenty of photographs of <Big Crawdaddy> at the board, and also of his beautiful home town of Milford.

crawfb5: Well, I guess I asked for all that.

<dak> I grew the beard in college. Don't do the math. There's no place like gnome.

<TF> You get a picture <and> a song:

<OCF> It will surprise no one that I picked that photo because it was the <dog's> best pose. I suppose I should have cropped it more. She was not only better looking than me, but also smarter.

TheFocus: From <crawdaddy>'s bio: <I currently live in the northeastern US (CT), but have moved around quite a bit (SC, GA, VA, TX, PA, OH, TN), so I *might* have run across some of you in the distant past.>

See, he has been in Texas. And, if he ain't a Texan, we'd still be glad to have him.

Larry, meet me and <lamont> in San Antonio, where we can girl-watch along the Riverwalk and tip back some suds.

crawfb5: I lived in Austin circa 1990-1994. And yes, I <have> been on the Riverwalk, however briefly. Isn't that a rather long drive from Hawaii? :-)
