Dec-16-11  BIDMONFA: Antonio Rico

RICO, Antonio

_

Oct-16-24  stone free or die: <<SPECTACULAR DISPLAY BY RICO>

He plays 100 boards simultaneously for seven hours and 55 minutes, winning 70, losing 17 and drawing 13.

In the large courtyard of the University of Oviedo and organised by the City Council, the Oviedo Society of Celebrations and Education and Leisure, a simultaneous session was held on 8 September by Antonio Rico, the great Asturian master. The courtyard offered an imposing appearance, and Rico covered the very hard day with real success. The session took place in the morning, from 11 to 1, and in the afternoon from 3 to 7. It is worth highlighting the remarkable result obtained by Rico, not only for having fought with such a large and also selected group (37 federated players in the 1st category participated), but for having undertaken the day without any training; a task of such nature requires special physical preparation. Teams representing “Educación y Descanso”, “Residencia Provincial”, “Frente de Juventudes”, “Centro Asturiano de la Habana”, “Hogar del Productor del Arenal” from Gijón, and numerous fans from various parts of the province took part in the battle. We congratulate Rico and the organizers for the brilliant event held.>

For a simul held on 1948-09-08.
