Honza Cervenka: <Moldavan veteran GM Viktor Bologan> is younger than Zbynek Hracek.
Sep-09-15  waustad: Considering where he lives I'm surprised that a player search on chess-results.com came up with two other players with that family name, but none matching his whole name.
Sep-09-15  waustad: Is there a spelling issue? Looking at some of the events he's played in that seems implausible.
Dec-05-17  PhilFeeley: Missing Hracek-Seirawan, 1998. A rapid game but interesting from a French Defense viewpoint. Davies covers it on his 1...e6 A solid defense against 1. e4 and 1 d4.
Jul-24-18  diagonal: His peak time was certainly in the mid-1990s: Czech Champion 1994, winning outright a Zonal contest 1995 (above amongst others Kiril Georgiev, Zoltan Almasi, or Mihail Marin), and clear first at Altensteig GMT 1995: https://www.365chess.com/tournament...

In 1995 (July - December Elo list), Hracek was ranked as no. 24-28 worldwide, alongside with Viktor Korchnoi, Peter Svidler, Judit Polgar, and Curt Hansen (ordered by number of games).

In 1996 (January - June Elo list), Hracek was in the Top Twenty of the world as shared no. 19-21, and again the leading Czech player.

He played for Czechoslovakia at the Chess Olympiads of 1990 and 1992, and for the Czech Republic at the Olympiads of 1994, 1996, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2014, making a total of 12 appearances, twice on board one for his country.

Sep-09-18  bengalcat47: He should asking Pat Sajak and Vanna White, "May I please buy some vowels?"
