Mar-29-04  Tigran Petrosian: Last year when I was 13, I drew IM Angelo Young in blitz. I was white in a King's Gambit.

miamihurricane: The King's Gambit is an awesome gambit-I would like to see its popularity resurface.

Sneaky: It's a great opening for striking fear into your opponent. "One wrong move and you're dead" seems to be the rule in a lot of the King's Gambit variations.
Aug-03-04  chesscookie: I'd like to get more adept at playing the king's gambit..unfortunately, i live in a country where chess books are unavailable Any ideas?

refutor: <chesscookie> play it every chance you get! also go over the games of the great masters of the past - anderssen, morphy, labourdonnais. even if the moves they play aren't "modern theory" it's usually more important to get a feeling for the middlegames of the king's gambit and attacking schemes than worry about the 12th move in the muzio ;)
Aug-03-04  chesscookie: <refutor> Thanks, i will. I guess i'll have to suffer a few losses a t first but after that, opponents beware!
