Yes the same Bill Cornwall, who column "Chess: A Knight's Tour" has been published in the LA Times since 2010.

Oct-16-20  YoungEd: Thanks a year late, <GrahamClayton!> You may know that Mr. Cornwall retired from writing the column, and the LA Times no longer carries a chess column--replacing it with a second sudoku, in effect. Sad...
