Dec-09-03  PinkPanther: Igor Novikov's highest ever rating was 2700? I find that hard to believe. I checked on chessbase.com and it said the highest he's ever been rated was 2614 (July '99).

chessgames.com: Chessbase says 2614 as well. We must have got a PGN file with him listed as 2700. Thanks.

WTHarvey: Here are some puzzles from Igor's games: http://www.wtharvey.com/novi.html
Jan-04-06  chessmaster pro: nice puzzles honestly it took me about 1 hour to figure out 5 of them
Dec-28-06  JustAFish: Chessgames, the first game in this database is likely in error, since it occured before Novikov was born.
Apr-22-07  ostende.arg: ok; Novikov played with Boleslavsky but Yury not Igor......or not
May-23-08  brankat: Well, Igor must have been way ahead of his time :-)

Happy Birthday GM Novikov.

Sep-15-08  Jason Frost: <chessgames.com: Chessbase says 2614 as well. We must have got a PGN file with him listed as 2700. Thanks. >

The 2700 may have come from USCF ratings as he used to be one of the top 3 or 4 players in the U.S.

Sep-15-08  Jason Frost: He has been at least 2733(2002) USCF according to members service area of uschess.com

His highest Fide since 2000 was 2611, but it is quite likley that he was somewhat higher before then as the peak was in July 2000 and I recall seeing standings of tournoments with him in them dating from quite a bit before then.

May-23-10  wordfunph: he's a certified GM currently sporting a 2560 card with a high of 2611..

May-23-16  TheFocus: Happy birthday, Igor Novikov.
Dec-09-18  Retireborn: Looking at some of Novikov's games from 1990-1991, I see thar he is one of the few(?) who can claim to have defeated all three of the Polgar sisters.
