Jan-09-05  pazzed paun: Hey does anybody remember the series in chesslife some years back about l.remlinger? HE is a contempoarty of B.Fischer-He quit chess as a junior player to earn a living-he started back again in his fifties and worked hard and got his IM title. VERY insiprational!!
Jan-09-05  MonsieurL: There is hope for us guys who come back after years of no chess! If only I had the instruction instead of just playing... now I have a quest; to find more about this IM! :)
Apr-15-10  wrap99: Here is a very belated reply to the request for more info. I remember this player from events in the late 1970s when he was maybe a 2300 player (pre rating inflation). Someone who had been around for a while said that Remlinger was considered to have a lot of promise as a junior and if I recall correctly, said something like he was believed to be in Fischer's league then (altho I see he was a little older).
Jun-05-10  katar: I've been looking at Keene & Jacobs book, An Opening Repertoire for White, Holt 1995. I noticed that the book recommends virtually all of Mr. Remlinger's favorite lines from the early 1990's, including the Deferred Samisch Nimzo, the Nge2-g3 KID, the Exchange QG with 0-0-0, the Exchange Slav, the 3.Nc3 QGA, and the Romanishin Grunfeld. Only the Benko suggestion is different (by coincidence, the only line i dislike!). K&J should have listed Remlinger as an honorary author! :)
