Coen(raad) Zuidema was born in Surakarta*. He was awarded the IM title in 1964. He was Dutch Champion in 1972 (he tied for 1st but lost in the playoffs in 1965 and 1973), and European Junior Champion 1962-63. He played in four chess Olympiads (1964, 1966, 1970, 1972).
