Andrei Vladimirovich Kharitonov was born in Ivanovo*. He received the IM title in 1980 and became a GM in 1993. The last 10 years of his life he had serious problems with his cardiovascular system and kidneys. He was repeatedly hospitalized, but refused an operation. He died after a long and serious illness in the late evening of January 13, 2012.
