WALTER ARENCIBIA
(born Jul-21-1967, 52 years old) Cuba

GM Walter Arencibia Rodriguez was born in Cuba in 1967. He learned chess at the age of eight and has won various tournaments, including the 1986 World Junior Chess Championship. Other tournament victories include the Cuban Youth Championships in 1985, tying for 1st at the Canadian open in 2006 with Abhijit Kunte and in 2011, he again tied for 1st-3rd with Joel Benjamin and Dejan Bojkov in the Canadian open. He has also represented Cuba at many Chess Olympiads from 1986 to 2006. He is a FIDE Trainer and he became a GM in 1990. He won the Cuban championship in 1986 and 1990.
