 | | LIFE Master AJ: Hey Bill, its A.J. Goldsby from Pensacola, FL. Your game, (B Wall vs J Chance, 1969); was the featured game of the day. Congrats! Do you play much "over-the-board" chess anymore? The games posted shows like your last (serious) OTB tournament was like 1993. Is this correct? By the way, GeoCities is closing its doors here soon, what will happen to your site? (I have already moved a few of my better GC sites, see them at mt new domain. http://www.ajschess.com.) |

 | | wwall: I am in an area with few OTB USCF events and have lost the urge to play in OTB tournaments (which gets more expensive and too tiring for me). I can play for free online or live chess anywhere in the world with little or no cost. I play over 2,000 games a year online, so I get my chess playing addiction that way. I now use my weekends for tennis, stay home with the wife, or have friends over, rather than going to chess tournaments. And I can always go over the games of the masters at chessgames.com. I may move my chess home page from GeoCities to a chess site soon. |

 | | PinnedPiece: <wwall>Seeking your insights here... Any updates, discussion, etc.?
http://www.chess.com/forum/view/gen... I've noticed no further chess reviewers have attempted a followup to IM Day's review (such as it was). Do you know of any particular reason why this is the case? Is it due to lack of availability of the book, or (perhaps) desire not to be tainted? |

Have you given any thought to where you will move your website? |

| Nov-30-09 | | kooley782: Expansion on my last kibitz:
I've been able to play at least 4-5 internet games with Bill Wall and am currently training with the product of his instruction, who kibitzed on this page earlier (username is sorcery). Training with sorcery completely overhauled my chess game and I began to come from about 1400 to 1600, maybe 1700 on a good day. I've begun to learn the principles of positional play, weak squares, nursing tiny advantages into wins, how to play the endgame, etc. Speculation and subjectiveness has been thrown out of my head and replaced with objectivity and precision. Without Wall's amazing teachings and instructions, and without sorcery's utter brilliance and willingness to teach, none of that would have been possible. Ethan,

 | | TheBish: Hello Bill!
I just saw your "Game of the Day" today (B Wall vs W Wall, 1969), and checked your profile. I was in the IT field for some time too, and considered getting into Information Security as well but now am in Tacoma, working as a chess coach for Chess4Life (based in Bellevue). Interesting that the above game was played in Tacoma. You must have quite a history with the club! My only claim to "fame" in this database is my game against you at LERA (Sunnyvale) 1986. Not your best effort, obviously, so nothing to be proud of on my part. I have much better games that maybe have a place here, such as a couple of my King's Gambit games that are featured in Raingruber & Maser's "The King's Gambit as White" (Third Edition). I was hoping to have one of my KG miniatures in your book, but you had already published it. - Alan Bishop |

 | | wwall: Alan,
I remember the game. You played the Keres Attack and I lost a miniature to you after I got my king and queen forked by your knight. What was I thinking? I was a member of the Tacoma Chess Club for a few years when I lived there. Its probably moved a dozen times since the 60s. Donaldson came after me. I could have played the game in Walla Walla, but it was downtown Tacoma. If I do another KG book, I'll include your minis. |
