Oct-14-11  TheBish: Hello Bill!

I just saw your "Game of the Day" today (B Wall vs W Wall, 1969), and checked your profile. I was in the IT field for some time too, and considered getting into Information Security as well but now am in Tacoma, working as a chess coach for Chess4Life (based in Bellevue). Interesting that the above game was played in Tacoma. You must have quite a history with the club!

My only claim to "fame" in this database is my game against you at LERA (Sunnyvale) 1986. Not your best effort, obviously, so nothing to be proud of on my part. I have much better games that maybe have a place here, such as a couple of my King's Gambit games that are featured in Raingruber & Maser's "The King's Gambit as White" (Third Edition). I was hoping to have one of my KG miniatures in your book, but you had already published it. - Alan Bishop

  wwall: Alan,
I remember the game. You played the Keres Attack and I lost a miniature to you after I got my king and queen forked by your knight. What was I thinking? I was a member of the Tacoma Chess Club for a few years when I lived there. Its probably moved a dozen times since the 60s. Donaldson came after me. I could have played the game in Walla Walla, but it was downtown Tacoma. If I do another KG book, I'll include your minis.

wwall: I no longer have a chess links page. Geocities went away years ago and I never found another site to continue my chess page. Thanks wordfunph and Frederick. My knees feel old, but the rest of me feels young.

May-11-12  TheTamale: Happy birthday, Bill!

I've lampooned you enough about all the games featured on this site in which you've managed to beat duffers with variations of the Fool's Mate. But I will take this opportunity to thank you for all the interesting games and your contributions to the sport. I've even used a pamphlet of yours in a correspondence game!

wwall: Thanks AJ. He wasn't such a saint, diceman. Always wanted to take his bad move back. But we were young then and didn't have fancy analog chess clocks or electricity for those digital clocks. We played a lot of off-the-wall chess in those days by candlelight. We weren't too bright as Edward Winter likes to point out.
May-14-12  LIFE Master AJ: hahahah
May-28-12  DanielBryant: It still should be possible to access most Geocities websites by typing in the URL but replacing the first letter in Geocities.com with an R.
