Dan is a retired physicist who worked on the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos, New Mexico, during World War II. In 1939, he won the New York City High School Chess Championship. In 1948, he won the New England Chess Championship. In 1996, he won the Senior Championship of Great Britain. In 2004, he won the US Senior Open championship for players 75 and older. He lives in Idaho.
