GM Boris Nikolov Chatalbashev played in the Olympiads of 1996 (2nd reserve), 1998 (1st reserve), and 2004 (1st reserve), and in European Team Championship 2003 (board 3) and 2007 (1st reserve). Four times Bulgarian champion: in 1991, 1998, 2007 and 2010. Danish Champion in 2023 and 2024.

Winner of over 30 tournaments. Recent results include 2nd at Bad Liebenzeller (Germany), behind Vladislav Borovikov, 2nd in the Albena Open in Bulgaria (2010) and won the 12th South Wales International 2015 outright with 8/10. (1)

Jul-22-14  whiteshark: GM Boris Chatalbashev (2549) is a Bulgarian GM, four times national champion for men.

As an active player Boris has won more than 30 tournaments in his career and has been a part of the Bulgarian Olympic Team.

He has been a successful trainer of the Bulgarian National Women’s Team for many years, including 2010, when the Bulgarian Olympic Team for women shared 3rd place at the Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansyisk, Russia.

In 2010 Boris joined the 2600+ ELO club, reaching his peak rating of 2613.
