Heinz Gerhard Lehmann, born in Königsberg, was a West German IM and played in the zonal tournaments at Munich 1954 and Madrid 1960. In German Championships he came 2nd in 1953 and 3rd in the 1957 and 1959 events. He represented West Germany in the Olympiads at Munich 1958 and Leipzig 1960. Lehmann won the Hoogovens-B Tournament in 1964. He was also an Honorary GM.

He also won <Rome 1964> together with Lengyel, <Stary Smokovec 1969>, plus <IBM-B at Amsterdam 1963> and <Hoogovens-B at Beverwijk 1964>.

In 1992, Lehmann was awarded the rare GM Honoraris title by FIDE.
