Jonathan Rogers was the joint winner of the British Under-15 Championship in 1986, and finished second in the British Under-18 in 1988. He finished equal first at the British Open in 1990. In 1992, he won the Southend Open and represented England in the Danish Open Junior Championships, finishing second. He was awarded the title of FIDE Master in 1993. An avid proponent of the Elephant Gambit (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d5?!), Rogers is the author of the booklet Winning with the Elephant Gambit (Tournament Chess 1994).
