 | | suenteus po 147: His performance in the 58th Russian Championship qualified him as an alternate in case any of the original attendees dropped. Since Grischuk and Najer did, he got a spot. |

 | | BishopBerkeley: I wonder if Evgeny might be related to San Francisco Symphony Conductor Michael Tilson Thomas (whose original name was Thomashefsky)? Maestro "MTT's" grandparents were prominent in Yiddish theater (Boris and Bessie Thomashefsky), and his father was Broadway stage manager Ted Thomas: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michae...
http://www.sfsymphony.org/templates... I note that "MTT" was named Gramophone's "2005 Artist of the Year": http://www.sfsymphony.org/templates... "One of my very, very first memories is of my parents' house in Los Angeles. In the late afternoon, the light would come through windows at one end of the house. There were venetian blinds and the blinds would be open so the light would come into the room in bands of light, because there was a lot of dust in the air in the San Fernando Valley in the summertime especially, and in these bands of light there were motes of dust, dancing in the light; and my first musical memory, I think, is watching those particles of dust moving, and reaching way up over my head to the keyboard of this big old upright rosewood Steinway grand that my parents had, and trying to play notes that would accompany this dance of the dust." – From MTT's Viva Voce, Conversations with Edward Seckerson (Faber & Faber, 1994) |

No he's a fan of Kramnik.
<jon01: Tomashevsky is a killer with 1. c4.>
Yeah you're right,he's really good with the English opening(1.c4)as he demonstrated in European Individual Championship 2009,Russia vs.China Match, and now the Russian Higher League.Among his victims with it were Wang Yue,Baadur Jobava,Vladimir Malakhov, etc. |

 |
| Jul-13-10 | | cjgone: Wow, a modern chess player who uses mostly 1.c4 and second 1.nf3. Awesome, since I do love the English opening. :D |
 |
| Jul-21-10 | | wolfmaster: Congrats GM Tomashevsky for making the 2700 club! He's a very solid player who will have no time holding his own against the top top players. I hope he gets some invites to supertournaments (God knows he deserves it more than Van Wely). |
 |
| Dec-14-10 | | Everett: <cjgone> Have you checked out Kramnik's opening repetoire in the 90's? He was crushing everyone with 1.Nf3 and 2.c4. |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: From: chessgames.com chessforum.
I am working on the "Game of The Month."
Whilst doing so, I did a search of: "Tomaszewski," (on your main page) and was directly connected to Roman Tomaszewski. This is somewhat disturbing ... there is a young man, (24) GM Evgeny Tomaszewski, and he is 2600+ according to his ChessBase profile. (I searched FIDE, http://ratings.fide.com/search.phtm..., but came up blank. However, I know that I have seen his games in TWIC.) (Russian: Евгений Томашев&-
#1089;кий)
He is quite well-known, and won the "Under-18" championships one year. Hmmm. I may have answered my own question ... I was about to tell you that you did not have this player on this website ... once again, it is a spelling problem. Evgeny Tomashevsky. Is there any way that you can offer the "ChessBase" spelling on his player profile? (You can "Google" this player: https://www.google.com/#hl=en&cp=13.... I also found his FIDE player card: http://ratings.fide.com/card.phtml?....) If you don't mind, I am going to post this on his player page as well ... |
 |
| Feb-10-12 | | Penguincw: Tomashevsky facing Anton Korobov, and does the best to draw and keep the tournament still interesting. :) |
 |
| Feb-11-12 | | bronkenstein: <Tomashevsky...does the best to <draw>...> You, you...Toma-hater! JK , Anton seems to be in excellent shape , we can hope for another fighting game today. |
