 | | alexmagnus: Chess must be unified, womenīs titles - like WGM - deleted...Although, in case of Katy Lahno, I donīt know what title is better, IM or WGM.... |
| Feb-05-05 | | Champ Supernova: Does anyone know what you need to do to get the WFM title? It must be like FIDE- 1800 or something. (really bad) |
| Feb-05-05 | | Bad Star: <Champ Supernova> It's 2100, I think. |
Feb-05-05
 | | alexmagnus: I think 2000 |
| Feb-05-05 | | STendefamMuitB: it's 2100
for most women titles you need about 200 points less then a mens title. e.g. WGM +2300 and a few norms
WIM +2200 and also a few norms
WFM +2100 |
| Feb-05-05 | | whiskeyrebel: I think the womens titles were a good idea that have outlived their usefulness now. I think they should be gradually done away with. I love playing against women...I guess it reminds me about the days when I first started in tournaments many years ago when you rarely saw women above class "c" level. It was SILLY...and of course due to many years of sexist nonsense. I recently escaped with a draw in a tournament game against a high finisher in the Polgar women's invitational and felt proud to have played her somehow. The days in which anglo males like me dominated American tournaments sucked in retrospect..even though I won more prizes then. I didn't play one single game against an African American player in the years 1969-1981. That's the way it was back then. I retired for 23 years and since making a come back recently have been glad to see folks of many races and both genders at tournaments. It's only right. |
| Feb-07-05 | | Champ Supernova: most wfm's on ICC and Playchess hover around 1900-2100 blitz! And that's an online rating! |
Feb-07-05
 | | alexmagnus: The online rating can be both higher and lower than the real one.
I think you need 1800 FIDE to become WCM (b.t.w., why is the CM title not so popular, like FM,IM and GM?) |
| Feb-07-05 | | STendefamMuitB: because nobody respects the CM title (+2200 for a men) and (+1800 for a woman)
everyone knows that this title is just used by the fide to make easy money
and i guess when your a fide master you still get discounts at tournaments, like no entrance fee or sth, international masters and grandmasters often get hotel accommodation for free.
But of course tournament organisation doesn't offer anything for Candidat masters. |
| Feb-07-05 | | Dick Brain: FIDE Master 2300
Candidate Master 2200
Women's FIDE Master 2100
Women's Candidate Master 2000
There are also alternative ways of gaining all these titles without actually achieving the ratings. |
Feb-14-05
 | | alexmagnus: Let the battle begin:) |
Mar-06-05
 | | alexmagnus: Does somebody know where she will play her next? |
| May-11-05 | | DP12: Actually there are alternative ways to obtain the title of FM titles they are given to 10 or 12 year old children who win these Pan-American tournaments. That is why there are several FMs who have FIDE ratings of around 2100. |

 | | alexmagnus: Smth new about Katy? Btw. isnīt the picture a bit uncurrent? (on the pic she is 12 I believe..) |
| Jun-14-05 | | iron maiden: Lahno's part of a five-way tie for first four rounds into the European Women's Championship in Moldova. http://eiwcc2005.chisinau.md/index.... |
Jun-14-05
 | | paulalbert: Kateryna plays Tatiana Kosintseva from Russia tomorrow, possibly the favorite, being the highest rated player. Paul Albert |
| Jun-15-05 | | Franz the Stampede: <Kateryna plays Tatiana Kosintseva from Russia tomorrow, possibly the favorite, being the highest rated player> and wins with black!!!!!
go katy!!!
:D |
| Jun-15-05 | | pawnstar3: i think lahno is the most talented rising young female star on the scene- even better than kosteniuk and kosintseva |
Jun-15-05
 | | paulalbert: I watched the game. Very instructive R+P endgame and nice finish where if Tatiana promoted her h pawn she was mated. Kateryna now leading tournament by 1/2. Paul Albert |
Jun-23-05
 | | alexmagnus: Why did Kateryna play an agreed draw in the last round? Why not play for win to increase the chances of winning the championship? |
| Jun-23-05 | | iron maiden: Maybe she thought she'd have a better chance of winning the rapid playoff, or perhaps the pressure was too great. |
| Jun-23-05 | | MrSifter: Her youth could give her an advantage in the faster time controls, lol. |
| Jun-23-05 | | stijn: the other girl is also pretty young, 19 or 20 i believe |
Jun-24-05
 | | alexmagnus: I canīt see the tie-break game for the 1st place at the official site... Do they start later?? |
| Jun-24-05 | | JohnSilver: Kateryna won the 2nd game. What was the result of 1st? |
