offramp: I have attempted to play a game of chess against one player but with me in consultation with another player. My colleague's name was Mr Alan Bridgens. We were playing Paul van der Sterren, but not the famous Paul van der Sterren.

The team face a considerable disadvantage. For a start, the opponent can hear every word you say. Secondly, all those words will be antagonistic, a more-or-less constant argument about variations and plans. It is impossible to analyse: it is not as if you can split the analysis between you. How could you do that in any reasonable way?

In any case we lost on time very soon after the opening.
