Premium Chessgames Member Does anybody know: is he the same as Alexander Zaitsev or is he actually Zaitsev's son?
Apr-19-04  Vischer: I looked on Chessbase 8.0 and I believe he is his son. On chessbase they were two separate people: Alexander N Zaitsev and Alexander Zaitsev Jr. They had more games by Jr. also.
Premium Chessgames Member Thanks, Vischer.
Apr-19-04  Vischer: No problem, I'm happy to help out.
Apr-19-04  WMD: Alexander Zaitsev died in 1971.
Apr-19-04  Vischer: Poor guy, not a win in the database. I'll see if Chessbase has a game or two that he won that I can upload.

alexmagnus: This Zaitsev is not the more famous Zaitsev's son, just namesake. Full namesake. Very full namesake, sharing even the patronymic (Nikolayevich).

He is a GM now. At least he was born later than the other GM died, so no confusion can arise.
