[what is this?]

Amédée Gibaud was born in Rochefort sur Mer. He was French champion in 1928, 1930, 1935 and 1940, but is probably best known for what was considered the shortest game in master chess: A Gibaud vs F Lazard, 1924. The game was actually a free game and lasted a few moves longer.

Jan-13-09  WhiteRook48: I think the Gibaud-Lazard game never happened. It says he's champion of France 4 times. How likely is it that he's going to play 2. Nd2?! and 4. h3??
